HOW
Every item of clothing has a carbon cost. Lifecycle assessments measure the carbon cost of a garment over its lifetime: from the resourcing of fibres, to manufacture, distribution, use and disposal. This carbon cost is expressed in terms of kilograms of CO2-e.
Using various lifecycle assessment studies, we've settled on a 30kg CO2-e carbon offset, to generously counter the lifetime carbon cost of a standard garment. For each of our clothes hangers, a 30kg CO2-e offset is allocated, to offset the lifetime carbon cost of the garment being hung.
Transparency is very important to us. Each certificate issued is referenced in our CLOTHING CARBON CREDITS Register, so that each Certificate ID has a line item identifying the source of the carbon offset.
How do we source our carbon offsets?
We choose quality carbon offset projects that make the world a better place. Currently our carbon offsets have been sourced from the triple gold rated biodiversity project at Rimba Raya. You can trace the source of your CLOTHING CARBON CREDITS by looking up your certificate ID in our CLOTHING CARBON CREDITS Register. When carbon offsets are allocated to CLOTHING CARBON CREDITS, they are included in our Register, and published on our website to ensure full transparency and accountability.
Not all carbon offset projects are the same. Some carbon offset projects are ineffective, and have justifiably attracted criticism.

Rimba Raya, Borneo Indonesia
The Rimba Raya Biodiversity Reserve Project avoids planned deforestation of tropical rainforest in Borneo, Indonesia. The project has a triple gold rating status for climate, community and biodiversity benefits. The project preserves the forest habitat supporting over 50 endangered species including the Borneo orangutan.
